MAN OF THE MATCH MIKE MILNER

Lee Morgan took charge of the Kings first game of the season in the absence of Stuart Minty, and Kings fielded a strong looking side against a much changed Blue Chip outfit.

In a physical encounter, Kings struggled to keep pace with the game with the Chip’s two forwards doing a lot of damage with their pace and penetration. Last year’s three star players, Clements, Tomlin and Whelan hardly touched the ball as the defence and centre of midfield battled against good Chip movement.

Kings found themselves shell shocked and three goals down at half time, with a shakeup needed, Morgan made a couple of important substitutions and tactical changes to give Kings a fighting hope – but despite a goal from Nathan to bring the Kings into contention a forth from Blue Chip killed off the game.

However the white’s continued to press forward to earn themselves two further goals from the boot of goal machine Clements. To bring the scoreline back to a slightly more reasonable level.

Sadly for Kings they carried 3 injuries to players out of the game, with Hatton, Milner and Wilson all struggling – but this is an important lesson for Kings that shows that they can’t just turn up with a decent side out but must compete for everything from start to last.
