Brilliant game guys.
I love how when you are playing against your friends you give an extra 25% effort.
The truth surely is that as individuals Crane's team went into the match as favourites. Particularly as Wilson was struggling with flu, Icky was having to leave early and both Kirby and Richardson weren't able to come until the last minute. But as we all know in football, its not always about individual brilliance - but team spirit, tactics and resilience.
The Magicians played a blinder to a man, displaying endeavour and courage against speedy opposition and the trying to break quickly when given an opportunity. Last ditch tackles from Loosemore and Wilson kept them in the game, coupled with fine saves from Kirby. Tomlin and Whelan both missing chances.
The midfield tactical battle was won by Minty as his idea to flood the centre of the park with 5 midfielders worked a treat and they took the lead part way through the first half with Tendai breaking clear and poking the ball past Dave Sansom.
The second half was much the same with the Crusaders pegging the Magicians very deep, but leaving more and more space for quick breaks to make opportunities in behind them. Constant changes in formation and personnel for Crane also made life difficult and Barber scored a second and Whelan created a third for Huntley as the Magicians took a 3 goal advantage.
A slightly dubious penalty was them awarded for an alleged handball and Matt Fordham stepped forward to place the ball superbly past Kirby.
Only minutes late though the game was wrapped up for the Magicians, Whelan again releasing Huntley to go and get his hat trick after seeing off a desperate Dwight lunge to stop the ball.
What a wonderful end to a fantastic season.
