After 24 goals during the previous 2 meetings of these clubs, fans were expecting a goal fest, but football never quite works out how you expect it too.

As the game started it looked like both teams were determined to win this match, with great passing and well timed tackles kings knew it was going to be a different story from the last match they played against the boys from Riseley.

As kings looked for a goal in the early stages they won a corner, Tomlin put a good cross in and Haywood was on the end of it but as Riseley tried to clear it the ball struck a player on the arm and the ref blew up for a penalty. As captain Haywood stood up to take it some of the Riseley players were trying to put him off knowing that he hadn’t missed from the spot so far this season. The whistle blew and Haywood bobbled the ball straight down the middle to give kings the lead.

Riseley kicked off and had a quick attack down the left wing almost scoring, the last 10 minutes of the half seemed like kings didn’t want it anymore and if it wasn’t for Sansom pulling of some good safes it could have been a different score line at half time. Another chance for the kings as Morgan chased the ball down the keeper came out to clear only to Tomlin’s feet, as the keeper was a long way out of his goal Tomlin had a pop, just as he thought it was going in the left back managed to just get it off the line.

Half time was blown and with some positive talking from the gaffer it seemed to have lifted the spirits of kings. The second half began and kings were off to a good start especially Lee Morgan with great holding up play to lay players off, also to everyone’s surprise he actually managed to turn the players and take it round most of them causing all sorts of problems, if only he had the pace after he spun round them he could have got a goal himself a well deserved man of the match.

With the last 20 minutes of the match Riseley pushed for the equaliser with great play down the wings and through the middle they almost got it but with a quick counter attack from kings Stuart Minty got the pull in the middle of the park but unfortunately fell over in a comedy style way but amazingly managed to win a free kick. The other two subs also played well with Scotty Barber making an impression with all kinds of tricks, as he took on a player with a wonderful move crossing it in to Morgan who sliced the shot. Scotty almost got a goal himself pushing the ball round the last defender but the keeper managed to rush out to push the ball off.

Now with no pace up front with Whelan and Tomlin off kings didn’t really have another good attack but as the last 3 minutes were here kings thought they could hold onto the win. With one final corner from Riseley the ball was smashed in low and managed to find its way through the crowd of players straight to a Riseley player who smashed it in the back of the net. 1 - 1 the game ended with Kings devastated to concede so late on but probably a fair result for both sides.
