Quality lads – that’s what it’s all about. And what we showed.

Teams cannot live with smooth passing and persistent football and it didn’t take long to break them down. Infact the score could and really should have been more emphatic.

There were some excellent moves today where we were able to slice the opposition apart. Morgan started the ball rolling after good work down the right with a cross-come-shot which lobbed the keeper and put Kings ahead. But this came after Clements had a golden opportunity to put us ahead with a decent header which flew just wide.

But it didn’t take long for him to get off the mark in his first competitive start for the Kings latching onto an excellent through ball from Paul Hatton to go round the keeper and tap the ball into the net.

Clements then put us three up with a well taken free kick which gave the Sandy keeper no chance after Tomlin had been felled on the edge of the box.

Half time 3-0 and totally in control.

There wasn’t quite the same bite for the first minutes of the second half, and a tactical change by Sandy, changing to a more adventurous 4-3-3 formation paid dividends for them as Kings conceded to a good header from a set play.

However, after Wilson made changes bringing Richardson on for himself and new signing Brodier on in place of the hard working Phil Hatton in the middle, the game soon swung back in the Kings favour with Clements securing his hat trick.

One further change was made with Minty coming on for Evans who are both looking a little short of match fitness as the game was seen out.

The only other point of note was Tomlin’s horrendous miss after doing some great work down the left to give himself what was almost an open goal opportunity but skied the ball at the last minute. Maybe next time Marcus?!

Guys – excellent. Well done.

I thought you all played really well and am very proud of our first performance.
